The Chris Ruth Centre provides high-quality, holistic and individualised care for individuals over the age of 18 with complex needs in Christchurch and Ashburton. We are a lifeline for families, offering daily respite care and giving clients the chance to join a space that is uniquely theirs, with the equipment, activities and social connections they need to have an enjoyable and exciting day. We have been in operation for 25 years. We operate seven centres across five sites in Canterbury, looking after over 130 individuals every day. We are named after one of our alumni who has since passed away, Chris Ruth.We have an exciting capital campaign project to deliver on behalf of our clients and are looking to invest in a newly developed Fundraising Manager role to lead the operational fundraising of the Centre. To set ourselves up for success, we have been working with The Fundraising Agency, a fundraising consultancy in Christchurch. Since November 2023, we have undertaken a Feasibility Study and now have an Organisational Fundraising Strategy, which outlines the roadmap we need to take towards success.This newly developed Fundraising Manager role is responsible for setting up, managing, and growing our income streams in line with the strategy. This exciting new role will also be responsible for implementing and managing the database and creating fundraising communications. This is an essential part of helping us become sustainable in the long term.The role will be based out of the Sockburn site, with the potential to visit Centres across Canterbury and work from home as needed. The role is scoped as a full-time role, but we are open to part-time applicants if the fit is right. We welcome applications from people who have some or most of the following skills and experience:2-4 years of fundraising/income-generating experience, successfully securing gifts from individuals and/or businessesUnderstanding of strategic, long-term fundraising principlesStrong relationship cultivation, stewardship, and management skillsConfidence in identifying and evaluating donor prospectsDeveloping and implementing innovative fundraising programmes from scratchAnalytical skills and the ability to use fundraising data as a toolMonitoring and evaluation of fundraising activitiesExperience using a fundraising donor databaseSkills in event management, communications, PR, business development, marketing or salesReporting into a CEO and BoardAn understanding of how communications and fundraising complement each other, with experience writing compellingly for not-for-profits/for-purpose organisationsLived experience with the disability sector (personally or through close family connections), or experience working in the disability sector will be looked on favourably.Additionally, capital campaign fundraising experience would be highly valued in this role.Travel and flexibility of hours will be required for this role, to meet with donors and attend/deliver events.How to ApplyWe welcome applications that don't cover all the above skills, as ongoing support and training by The Fundraising Agency will be available for the right candidate.Applicants for this position should have a New Zealand resident visa or a valid New Zealand work visa.We are excited to fill this role and will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis.
