Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the Special Olympics movement has grown from a few hundred athletes to more than 3.7 million athletes in over 170 countries in all regions of the world, providing year-round sports training, athletic competition and other related programmes. The ultimate goal of the Special Olympics is to enrich the lives of people with an intellectual disability through sport.The role:The Fundraising Manager is a newly created role at Special Olympics New Zealand, offering a unique opportunity to build and shape a fundraising programme from the ground up. With an existing database and prospect list, this person will be responsible for leading and executing the organisation's fundraising strategy across three key programmes: individual giving, major donors, and bequests. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong relationship management skills and a proven track record in fundraising and communications.You will need the following:5+ years' experience in fundraising, with a proven track record of developing and managing a major donor and/or bequest programmeProven experience and understanding of sustainable fundraising via individual giving (DM, annual appeal and donor journey)Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication strategiesStrong understanding of donor management and CRM systemsStrong ethical standards and a commitment to transparency and donor stewardshipThis is an exciting opportunity to be the first Fundraising Manager for SONZ. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Special Olympics New Zealand Foundation (Foundation), you will develop and implement innovative fundraising campaigns aligning with SONZ's mission and goals. With an existing team supporting grants, digital comms and events, this role will lead the relationship fundraising efforts to grow the Foundation's endowed fund through individual giving, major gifts and bequests.The role is full-time and allows for hybrid working, and is based in Lower Hutt, Wellington.
