Position overview: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Funding and Relationship Lead to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in securing financial resources and fostering strategic partnerships to support the ongoing growth and sustainability of our organisation.About KelmarnaKelmarna Community Farm is an organic farm in central Auckland. Through rebuilding connections between our people and our food, we work to champion and demonstrate a regenerative local food system that supports environmental restoration, climate change mitigation, urban resilience and community wellbeing.Kelmarna is a registered charity occupying 1.7 hectares of publicly-owned land in Ponsonby, which includes substantial vegetable gardens, food forest, layer hens, and a developing silvopasture for sheep grazing.From this site we run a diverse range of activities, including:varied volunteering programmes and roleshorticultural therapy for people with mental health needs or intellectual disabilityfarm education programme for schoolseducational workshops for adultsSoil Factory, our community composting enterpriseon-site Farm Shopproduce sales to restaurantscommunity eventsFind out more about our work at kelmarna.co.nz.Our recent successful fundraising appeal has given us a window of opportunity to test our capacity to become more financially self-sufficient by adding two roles to our team for the next 12 months. Our goal is to become a better-resourced, robustly funded, and widely recognised education and community hub at the forefront of the ecological food movement. This role, as well as the Marketing & Events Lead that is also being advertised now, will underpin a key part of our strategy to achieve that goal.This Fundraising and Relationships Lead position will play a pivotal role in securing new financial resources and fostering strategic partnerships to support the ongoing growth and sustainability of our organisation. Primarily focused on building our business sponsorship and recurring donation programmes, securing grant-funding will still be an important aspect of the role.You will have experience in fundraising, with a track record of securing donations through various fundraising revenue streams such as major gifts, bequests, corporate support, individual giving, and grant applications. You will understand the nuance of these different fundraising streams, and ideally have had experience creating fundraising strategies.You will work closely with the Marketing and Event Lead and the General Manager on creating and implementing the strategy and vision. We will provide support and a thorough induction to set you up for success.This is a great opportunity to be part of our small, cohesive team, and to contribute to delivering our vision for a more sustainable food system, right in the middle of Auckland.Hours: 16 hours/week, there can be flexibility with hours, work from home arrangements and start/finish times. 12 month fixed term role.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Further develop our funding strategy, through a combination of grants, donations, business sponsorship, and events.Create and update our annual fundraising strategy.Identify new funding opportunities and related actions to increase our financial sustainability.Work closely with the General Manager to ensure effective collaboration and delivery of the overall fundraising strategy.Keep up to date with market and industry developments and trends.Manage and further develop our individual giving programmes, including the 'Friends of Kelmarna' membership scheme.Oversee the management and growth of our donor programmes.Coordinate campaigns and review their effectiveness.Oversee the organisation of the Raisely donor database system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on donors, prospects, and contributions.Develop a communications plan to receipt, update, engage and thank regular donors and work collaboratively with other staff to deliver this.Generate reports and analysis from the donor database to inform fundraising strategies, track progress towards goals, and identify opportunities for donor engagement.Implement and maintain protocols for data security and compliance with relevant regulations.Further develop and increase contributions in our Business Sponsorship Programme.Develop contacts, partnership and sponsor relationships to secure appropriate support in the realms of financial, product and expertise.Research and identify suitable businesses to approach.Cultivate relationships with businesses to ensure funding approaches match their interests and priorities.Alongside the General Manager prepare comprehensive and effective proposals which receive financial contributions from businesses.Deliver accountability reports and updates to keep sponsors informed of the positive impact of their support.Organise and manage small events for prospects and donors, working closely with the GM and Marketing and Events Manager.Ensure appropriate acknowledgement of all partners and supporters across Kelmarna channels.Research, prepare and submit grant funding applications.Manage grants calendar including deadlines, applications, and reporting.Identify and secure required income through effective grant applications.Ensure accurate and timely completion and co-ordination of detailed documentation for funding applications and accountability reports.Monitor compliance with grant/funding requirements and assist the General Manager in arranging the required actions to ensure the Trust is meeting its accountabilities.Collaboration with staff on funding programs, budgets, timelines, etc.To be an effective member of Kelmarna's core team.Ensure the ethical acceptance and use of gifts aligns with organisational policy.Provide regular feedback to the General Manager on the workload to efficiently prioritise requirements.Stay up-to-date with news activity and policy developments that relate to our work. Deal with enquiries about the organisation as a whole and pass on to other staff as appropriate.Take part in cross departmental meetings and projects, with a focus on ensuring supporter engagement objectives are delivered.Person SpecificationProven experience in fundraising, grant writing, or related roles within the non-profit / charity sector.Strong relationship management skills and understanding of the critical importance of building successful collaborative partnerships with funders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build meaningful relationships.Creative, innovative, and able to identify opportunities for partnership growth.Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.The ability to work to deadlines and organise timely input from others to deliver quality applications and reports on time.Self-motivated and action oriented, with a drive to work towards targets for the betterment and future resilience of the organisation.Can produce clear, persuasive writing and reporting with a creative touch.
