Friends Of The Emergency Department Volunteer

Details of the offer

Friends of the Emergency Department Volunteer Casual
Primary Location: Bay of Plenty
Hato Hone St John has been serving New Zealanders and working to save lives since 1885. As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives.
In the busy emergency department of a hospital, a friendly, calm face can be comforting. Our volunteers are there to listen, give information and provide support to patients and their whanau.
Time Commitment: We ask volunteers to commit to a four-hour shift once a week or fortnightly. In addition, due to the nature of these roles, we are only able to consider volunteers who are able to commit for a minimum of 12 months.
What experience do I need? None - no prior experience is required. However, there are certain things that are needed to be considered and successful in these roles:
Sensitivity towards those who are sick
A friendly, caring and compassionate nature
A genuine interest in the well-being of others
Physically fit (these roles involve a lot of walking)
You must be at least 18 years of age
Ultimately, we are looking for people who have an aptitude for working with a diversity of cultures that will bring passion to this crucial function within the Hato Hone St John Hospital services. We offer full training and support, uniform, and Hato Hone St John membership (which gives free ambulance service for immediate family, as well as additional benefits).
Working within the hospital, volunteers are expected to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This means having had 2 primary vaccinations and having or intending to receive your Booster prior to commencement. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be requested as part of the recruitment process.
Me pehea te tuku tono - How to apply
