Join our Waikato team and be part of the positive change! We're looking for an Environmental Scientist or Ecologist ready to make a real impact and contribute to a more sustainable future. You'll join a dynamic and supportive team that brings together diverse knowledge in engineering, science, sustainability, and water-sensitive urban design.

Are you passionate about freshwater ecology, eager to engage in site-specific and catchment-wide programs, and committed to advancing scientific research to better our ecosystems? If this resonates with you, we want to hear from you! Here are some of the exciting responsibilities you'll take on:

Conducting ecological impact assessments (coastal and freshwater)

Providing invaluable expertise in freshwater ecology to our projects

Navigating regional regulations and the RMA for effective resource consent processes

Contributing to environmental development and practical restoration efforts

Participating in peer reviews of ecological reports

Collaborating closely with environmental engineers to achieve eco-friendly outcomes

Managing projects, contracts, and finances

About You
If you're a problem solver, love a challenge, and are deeply committed to sustainability and environmental progress, you're the one we're looking for! The ideal candidate will have:

A Bachelor's degree in environmental science or ecology (or equivalent)

At least 2 years of hands-on experience in New Zealand's freshwater ecology

Experience in a consulting or advisory role will be an advantage

Bonus points for experience in coastal ecology and/or coastal and fluvial geomorphology

Exceptional communication and report-writing skills, with an eye for identifying commercial opportunities

GIS and data management skills are a plus, though not mandatory

A genuine passion for sustainability, the environment, and a keen interest in freshwater, terrestrial, coastal ecology, or marine science

Willingness to get hands-on and explore the beauty of our natural streams and wildlife
