St John of God Hauora Trust – Wellington, North Island 29 days ago , from Institute of Data New Zealand A Food Services Assistant is required to join our food and kitchen services team on a permanent contract at St John of God Karori. We have a fully staffed commercial kitchen cooking and preparing meals for our residents. Currently, we are searching for a food services assistant on a fulltime (68 hours/fortnight) basis who can support the existing team and the Head Cook with the dishing up of meals.The rostered hours will be 9.30 am to 6.30pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday. The general kitchen duties will include the washing and putting away of crockery, and ensuring the kitchen is always left immaculate after a shift. You will be supporting our permanent staff when they are on leave or absent from work, enabling them to take much needed leave over the holidays.To be considered for the role, you will need to have had experience in a commercial kitchen and be familiar with the tasks and duties in that role. General tasks:Dispose of waste in an efficient and appropriate manner.Assist in meal preparation and serving in a safe and hygienic manner.Keep all work areas maintained in clean, safe and tidy manner.Machine wash all crockery, cutlery, glass, lids, and pots etc. and put them away.Collect any dirty dishes from dining room and residents' rooms.Clean and wet wipe all trays and trolleys, andWipe down all benches and sinks.Skills required:Experience in a commercial kitchen/ and or the hospitality industry would be an advantage.Food handling qualifications and infection control awareness.We would be delighted to hear from interested candidates and discuss how you would fulfil the requirements of this role.
