Food Applications Technologist

Our team in Auckland currently has an opening for a Food Applications Technologist.

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the overall application work for the Food and Food & Nutrition Teams.

Provide support to the Sales team with sample preparation, proactive concept development, problem-solving application work, and recommending best-fit ingredient solutions to customers via the sales team.

Conduct overall laboratory work.

Provide support to Sales Teams in customer-focused project work, such as problem-solving using the Brenntag Product Portfolio, introducing new products to customers, new product development, and evaluation.

Present results of projects and laboratory work to internal stakeholders and customers in a format suitable for commercial presentation.

Assist Sales Team in recommending the most suitable products to customers.

Develop proactive solutions and product concepts in line with market trends, new developments in supplier technologies, and business priorities.

Assist with technical training for the sales team on basic knowledge and existing product advantages and limitations.

Maintain Application Laboratory in excellent condition and utilize equipment and materials effectively.

Manage adequate materials inventory and required equipment as agreed with Manager.

Manage effective reporting and documentation systems for the area of responsibility.

Follow Safety First protocols ensuring safety rules are adhered to by anyone entering the laboratory.

Ensure all analysis and development communications are handled in an efficient and timely manner.

Maintain knowledge and technical know-how and keep up to date on Ingredient Portfolio and Market Trends relevant to the job.

Ensure thorough knowledge of the company's Integrated Management Systems and comply with all procedures of the system.

Identify and assist in the implementation of process improvement opportunities in conjunction with senior management.

Manage Customer Service Excellence as measured by external customer feedback.

Work cohesively with internal/external stakeholders ensuring a customer-centric culture is achieved and maintained.

Manage and report all non-conformances, acting on repetitious non-conformances.

Identify and implement changes to ensure a measured reduction in non-conformances and overall operation efficiency gains and continuous improvement initiatives are achieved.

Review Job7's and follow through to action improvements, addressing areas of sub-optimal performance.

Consistently demonstrate Brenntag values and expected behaviours through exemplary standard setting.

Actively participate in the annual Performance, Planning & Review (PPM) process, establishing individual KPIs and monitoring performance to ensure targets and effective work outcomes are achieved.

Take ownership of learning and development opportunities by creating an Individual Development Plan (IDP), strengthening your personal and professional development.

Perform such other duties and activities which may be assigned to you from time to time.

YOUR PROFILE

Degree qualified in Food Science / Technology and / or Master's Degree.

Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar Food Technologist role or related field.

Working experience in chemical or distribution industry advantageous.
