The Whakapapa whanau are an ambitious and passionate team, running year-round operations on the northern slopes of Mt Ruapehu.
In winter, from June until October, this includes a world-class ski area.
In summer, from December until April, this includes our summer sightseeing operation, heroing our iconic Sky Waka gondola.
Each year we welcome hundreds of thousands of manuhiri (guests) to Whakapapa, many with life-long connections to the maunga (mountain) and surrounding region, some even third or fourth generation.

As our Food & Beverage Business Manager, you'll oversee the operations of our bustling cafes, ensuring they deliver unforgettable experiences to our guests.
On a busy day in the middle of the ski season there would not be many operations with the size and scope of Whakapapa in New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include: Drive revenue and growth: Identify new opportunities to expand our food and beverage offerings and maximise profitability.
Lead a talented team: Inspire and develop your team to deliver exceptional customer service and maintain high standards of quality.
Manage operations: Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, from procurement to inventory management and staff scheduling.

Proven leadership: Demonstrated experience managing a successful food and beverage business in a high-volume environment.
Strong business acumen: A solid understanding and proven experience of financial management, budgeting, and revenue generation.
Exceptional customer service: A passion for providing outstanding experiences to our guests.
Effective communication: The ability to build strong relationships and inspire your team.
Adaptability: The flexibility to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

***On October 27, 2023, Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Limited was put into Receivership with Brendon Gibson and Neale Jackson appointed as Receivers.
They have transferred the ownership of the Turoa ski area to new operators, and are continuing to work on the sale of Whakapapa.
