Are you a skilled and experienced Fitter Welder, looking for an exciting opportunity to join a leading production company? We are currently seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Fitter Welder in our workshop. As a Fitter Welder, you will play a vital role in the production process by carrying out preventative maintenance tasks, attending breakdowns, and contributing to changeovers. Experience in machining would be a significant advantage. This role also includes a range of fabrication and installation work to improve process flow, production, and safety across the site. Located 15 mins from Taupo in Broadlands, the position is Monday to Friday with some weekend and shut work over Christmas, but also flexible. A key part of the role is your ability to work independently and suggest suitable options for improvements. Experience in wood processing or line processing would also be an advantage. Flexibility around hours of work is available. About the Company PermaPine is NZ's biggest roundwood specialist which consists of the following: Green production line producing roundwood, including Merch Saw, Peelers, splitsaws, and sorting table Steaming Plant consisting of 6 vessels, 2 boilers, and a chip feed system 2 Treatment plants consisting of 4 vessels, fixing and treating & MCA Plant Maintenance workshop Dispatch yard House-pile production consisting of saw, splitsaws & Bezner equipment Fleet of Loaders & Excavators About you: Proactive and willingness to take action over issues arising Trade certified Independent worker Supervisor experience or the like Hands-on role Ability to think and make/build things Able to work autonomously & within a small team Full License Experience in Manufacturing/production Strong work ethic and workmanship Strong H&S Focus MUST BE NZ RESIDENT & NOT ON A WORKING VISA Responsibilities: Proven experience as a Fitter or similar role in a production environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, with the ability to diagnose and repair machinery efficiently. Familiarity with maintenance best practices and preventative maintenance systems. Proficiency in reading technical drawings, diagrams, and manuals. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Being flexible Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards. Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
