We are actively seeking a skilled Fitter Turner/ Fitter Welder to join Ashhurst Engineering and Construction. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Fitting & Turning: Perform precise fitting and turning tasks on various components, focusing on high-quality machining work related to hydro projects.
Manufacturing & Assembly: Manufacture, fit, and assemble parts and components for a variety of machinery, ensuring precision and quality in every task.
Maintenance & Repair: Maintain, modify, and repair all machinery according to manufacturers' specifications, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
Fitting & Fabrication: Fit, fabricate, weld, and assemble metal components and sub-assemblies, utilizing your technical expertise to deliver high-quality results.
Shutdown Work: Participate in shutdown work, ensuring minimal downtime and effective project completion.
Health & Safety Leadership: Demonstrate and promote a positive culture of health and safety, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise and mentor a 2nd-year apprentice (24 years old), providing guidance in fitting, turning, and welding techniques.
Project Oversight: Oversee site work, ensuring machining, fitting, welding, fabrication, and assembly projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Site Travel: Travel to various project sites as required within the Waikato/BOP region.
Requirements:
Experience within an engineering or manufacturing role
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
Class 1 Full Driver's License
Working at Heights and confined spaces certifications are advantageous
Knowledge in hydro and geothermal is preferred
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
Proven experience as a Fitter/Welder with a strong skill set in both fitting and welding.
Previous supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a small team.
