The Taranaki Fish and Game Council is on the search for an enthusiastic and experienced Fish & Game Officer to join our lower North Island team on a full-time basis, working from our New Plymouth base. The right person will have: An appreciation and passion for sharing their knowledge of fishing, hunting and the environment. Effective oral and written communication skills. Experience with species monitoring, compliance and interacting with stakeholders. A reasonable working knowledge of fish and game bird management principles. Ability to work independently to achieve tasks. You will principally be undertaking field monitoring programmes, recruitment and communication initiatives, as well as ensuring anglers and hunters are compliant with the laws that sustain the NZ resource. The role has an enviable balance of field and office-based work with opportunities to support Fish & Game related activities such as: Wetland and habitat restoration projects Maintenance and enhancement of the angling and hunting experiences of licence holders Maintaining access to the resource Engagement with our wider communities Enabling professional and career development opportunities is important to us.
