Job Classification: Firefighter/EMTSouth Whidbey Fire EMS is hiring for the position of Firefighter/EMT. Candidates are required to take the NTN Fireteam exam, along with the PSSA and PHQ. All testing must be completed before the specified deadline.

Working Conditions:New recruits will attend the WA State Fire Academy in North Bend at the district's expense for Firefighter I & II training. After academy completion, recruits will be assigned to one of three shifts. Shift personnel may be assigned to either an engine or aid vehicle based on the call type.
Job Requirements:
Age: 18 or older
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required
Education: High School Diploma or GED required
Driver's License: Valid license required
Language: Must read and speak English
Vision: Correctable to 20/20
Academy Certification: Candidates will be sent to the WA State Fire Academy in North Bend
Certifications: NREMT or WA State EMT certification required

Disqualifiers:Candidates must pass EMS written and practical testing, background investigation, drug screening, and medical examination. Any relevant findings in the background check will be reviewed individually.
Preference Points:Preference points are awarded for documented military service (DD 214 required).
