Founded in 1869, the University of Otago has a strong teaching and research tradition and well-established national and international linkages. It is also one of New Zealand's largest universities. The Financial Services Division, provide finance related services across the University including Financial and Management Accounting, Procurement and Financial Systems.
The role/Te mahi We are seeking an enthusiastic technology-savvy finance professional to be part of a portfolio of finance related projects, primarily in relation to financial systems and process improvement both to the Financial Services Division and the wider University.
Enthusiastic about navigating the complex world of financial systems and leading transformative projects, you will analyse existing accounting, finance systems, and deliver FMIS advice, recommendations, and support, including contributing to strategic and business planning processes. As a trusted specialist you will easily establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders of diverse backgrounds, supporting best practice approaches to financial processes.
You might currently be working in a Big four advisory environment, or private accountancy, but your passion lies in all things systems and projects. Key skills you will need are:
• Tertiary level qualification or recognised qualification(s) appropriate to this role.
• A professional chartered accounting qualification.
• Experience providing a range of finance services in a large or complex organisation.
• A solid working understanding of accounting principles & processes.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position, located in Dunedin.
