We work collaboratively with iwi, Government, not-for-profits and businesses to achieve outcomes that benefit our community.Te aheinga - The opportunityWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Financial Strategy and Planning Advisor to lead, coordinate, and provide long-term financial strategic advice and support for the Council Group's Long-Term Plan, Annual Plan, and various finance-related strategies and policies. This role is pivotal in supporting a business partnership approach across the Group's multiple services and ensuring an integrated and joined-up approach to decision-making.You will create, implement, and evaluate financial policies and strategies that ensure fiscal responsibility, sustainability, and alignment with organisational goals. This role is crucial in supporting our mission and contributing to the overall financial health and strategic direction of NPDC.Lead financial strategy and planning aspects of the Long Term Plan and Annual Plan processes for the Council GroupDevelopment of new policies and guidance to support best practice and strategic prioritiesOngoing programme of review of existing policies which cover a wide range of areas, such as financial delegations, revenue and financing policy, rating policy, development contributionsProvide high quality strategic financial advice, modelling and analysis to support the Council's financial sustainability goalsDevelop, implement and monitor finance strategies and policies that comply with financial reporting standards and other statutory requirements and best meet the needs of the Council GroupPrepare reports and analysis to support decision making processes of Council, and relevant subcommitteesProvide decision support advice relating to business cases and investment choicesSupport activity managers to understand organisation-wide strategic priorities and to reflect these in funding options and decisionsProvide advice and support across the business to make appropriate use of revenue generation and cost saving opportunitiesSupport elected member and community engagement processesQualified chartered accountant with at least seven years experienceLocal government financial planning and budgeting experience, with understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and policy developmentStrong stakeholder engagement skills with a cooperative and inclusive approach to building and maintaining effective relationshipsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAsset management planning experienceUse TechnologyOneOu matou rourou - What we offerYou can expect to start in this permanent, full-time role with us between $108,493 and $116,930.We have also put together an 'Our Peoples Package' that spans wellbeing, development, benefits, culture and recognition.If you think this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!Applications close on Saturday, 24 August 2024.
