Financial/Governance Administrator – East Coast Rural Support Trust The East Coast Rural Support Trust was formed in 1991 and is a charitable trust operating in the East Coast region and is part of a nationwide network of Rural Support Trusts.
The East Coast Trust operates in four geographical areas across the region - Tairawhiti, Hawkes Bay/Wairoa, Tararua, and Wairarapa.
In each region there is an area coordinator supported by Trustee(s) and a regional committee comprising other facilitators with skills and backgrounds who can be called upon to assist if required.
The Trust has been set up to work with the rural community and assist people and their families who are experiencing any adverse events – financial, climatic, or personal – or who require access to wellness services to more effectively meet and overcome difficulties.
WHAT Reporting to the Trust Chair, the purpose of the Financial/Governance Administrator role is to contribute towards effective financial planning and support the governance role of the Chair and Trustees across East Coast RST.
This centralised role provides a support function to the Treasurer to enable accurate and timely administration of regional financial matters.
Accounting functions include accounts payable/receivable processes, Xero reconciliation, banking and returns, GST, MPI reports, budget preparation/forecasting/year-end/audit support, as well as providing general administration support.
Secretarial responsibilities include support to Trustees for governance meetings, provision of centralised record maintenance of HR documents and Health and Safety records.
Organisation of key Trust meetings is also an expectation of this role.
WHO Our client is looking for a Financial/Governance Administrator with 3 years plus experience in an accounts-focused role using Xero or other accounting systems.
The below are also key to success in this role: Recognised qualification in accounting or business management certification.
Experience with the Microsoft Office suite such as Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Previous experience in an HR and Trust setting would be an advantage.
Have strong connections, knowledge, experience, and affinity to the local rural community.
Have a basic understanding of the assistance and networks available to the rural community and understand the unique challenges and stresses faced by rural people.
Trustworthy with a proven track record of ability to maintain data integrity via confidentiality and discretion.
Commercial and business awareness.
Highly organised, structured, and able to manage your time effectively through taking a systematic approach to your tasks.
Communicate effectively, and appropriately raise issues and concerns.
Willingness to travel and work flexible, unstructured hours for the Trust as required.
Full and current New Zealand Driver's Licence with own transport.
