The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, regulation compliance, effective cash management, cost optimisation, and strategic financial support, while driving continuous process improvements to support business growth.Your duties will include, but are not limited to:Overseeing day-to-day financial operations, including cash flow management, liquidity, and working capital optimisation. Manage relationships with local and international banks and other financial institutions.Lead the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and ad-hoc financial analysis. Review and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and timely reporting.Monitor operating costs across all business lines, identifying areas for cost optimisation. Analyse financial performance, investigate variances, and provide strategic insights to senior management.Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial legal obligations, and industry standards (e.g., IFRS 16). Coordinate audits, manage tax reporting, and oversee regulatory filings to ensure adherence to local and national regulations.Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring proper invoicing, billing, and collections. Supervise the quality control of journal entries, monitor transactions, and reconcile accounts.Responsible for overseeing monthly payroll for INTEC employees, ensuring compliance with New Zealand legislation.Collaborate with other departments to align financial goals with business strategies. Provide financial insights and support for key initiatives, such as project cost analysis, revenue planning, M&A activities, and overall business growth.Establish, lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture. Continuously improve financial processes, including ERP integration, and act as the main financial information provider to internal stakeholders.Qualifications and experience:Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with professional qualifications such as CPA, CFA, CAANZ, or equivalent; an MBA and CA qualifications would be beneficial.At least 8 years of post-qualified experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally within an engineering, construction, or high-growth business environment, including experience navigating periods of significant growth and change.Strong knowledge of NZ IFRS/NZ IFRS RDR, with experience in preparing consolidated financial reports and ensuring compliance with relevant financial standards.Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365, Xero, SAGE), along with advanced Excel skills, and experience in financial analysis, modelling, and auditing.Proven ability to establish, lead and develop finance teams, fostering a culture of integrity and continuous improvement, while collaborating with peers and senior management to drive financial performance.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to analyse, interpret, and present financial data to stakeholders. Expertise in providing strategic financial insights and partnering with business leaders to support decision-making.Experience in developing and implementing risk management frameworks, advising on business valuations, investment appraisals, and M&A activities, with a focus on ensuring financial stability and business growth.With extensive finance expertise, you provide valuable insights and strategic advice to senior management, driving informed decision-making and business success.
