Step into an exciting role as a Financial and Systems Accountant at FarmRight. Reporting directly to and working closely with the Finance Manager, you'll collaborate with finance, farm investment management, and administrative staff to prepare crucial financial information for our clients.
The Financial and Systems Accountant is responsible for performing accounting in line with accounting standards, and the reporting and budgeting functions for FarmRight's clients with operations across dairy, beef, and horticulture sectors. Completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting is performed in line with accounting standards.
Work closely with the Accounting, IT, and Data teams to support, maintain, and improve our financial systems. Use your technological proficiency to drive continuous improvement in our financial processes.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated CA to join our team, based at our Head Office in Christchurch, Canterbury. As a Financial and Systems Accountant reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be familiar with gathering and monitoring financial data and preparing compliant financial reports both internally and externally of the business. Relevant tertiary qualifications will support the applicant's industry experience, ideally a CA qualified with BCom or similar relevant tertiary qualifications.
Key aspects of the role
This busy position involves many key responsibilities to support the wider financial team, including:
Financial reporting and budgeting:
Responsible for client monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting for specified client platform and investigation and reporting of variances from budgets/forecasts. Best practice skills and processes are maintained throughout the financial reporting process.
Liaising with the Finance Manager for preparation of year-end financial statements and understanding of the external auditing process.
Collaborating with the Finance Manager for assessment and preparation of budget reports for client platforms.
Liaison with key internal and external contacts and responding to queries, such as responding to audit queries, assisting with the audit plan, responding to tax advisors, and responding to client queries.
Compliance:
Monitoring compliance during the year with client requirements and responding to those requirements.
Robust understanding and experience with the preparation of IFRS financial statements and changes to IFRS standards.
Responsible for ensuring timely completion of compliance reporting requirements to Corporate Clients.
Monitoring, reviewing, and improving (where necessary) key internal controls.
Understanding corporate governance and NZ company office requirements.
Systems:
Maintaining a good and up-to-date understanding of internal systems.
Develop and improve functions in Workday (Budget and Forecasting tool).
Assisting with queries from internal customers in the business.

We currently manage over 60 farms across New Zealand on behalf of a range of investors or clients. FarmRight Corporate has a staff of 58 and is involved in the management of approximately 350 farming staff.
