We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Ngai Tahu Holdings portfolio. Our Ngai Tahu Holdings serves as the steward of commercial activities for Ngai Tahu, managing significant interests in various sectors including commercial property, development, farming, seafood, honey, and tourism. Committed to the prosperity and sustainability of Ngai Tahu Whanui, our mandate is to grow and protect tribal assets for present and future generations.
Te Arotahi Matua / Primary Focus of This Role: As a Financial Accountant at Ngai Tahu Holdings, you are essential in managing accounting and reporting tasks across our diverse portfolio, which includes commercial property, development, farming, seafood, honey, and tourism. Your role supports the financial health and strategic direction of Ngai Tahu by handling management accounting, financial reporting, and providing business support.
Maintenance of general ledger integrity through monthly journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.Preparation of monthly management accounts and reports, ensuring their accuracy and timeliness..Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and assisting in tax-related activities.Ensuring external compliance requirements are metContribution to the annual budgeting process and statutory financial reporting.Identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Participation in cultural activities to deepen understanding of Ngai Tahutanga and te reo Maori. 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, particularly proficient in month-end accounting processes.Strong communication skills and a capability for process improvement.Respect and knowledge of Maori cultural values and customs (Tikanga).Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is preferred.CA qualification to CAANZ is advantageous.Proficiency in MS Excel and a high attention to detail.Customer-focused with a strong sense of manaakitanga (hospitality).Exceptional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Strong time and project management skills.Eagerness to learn and integrate Ngai Tahu values, tikanga, and te reo Maori into daily practices.Openness to embracing a bi-cultural environment and adapting practices accordingly.How to Apply: If you are interested in applying for this role, then please select apply now.
