A true people-centric roleFlexible working optionsAbout Taranaki Regional CouncilLocated in the heart of the region in Stratford, the team at Taranaki Regional Council collaborates with the Taranaki community to enhance the region's livability, recreational opportunities, and business environment.Our goals include:Promoting sustainable use, development, and protection of natural and physical resourcesEnsuring the safety of Taranaki's people and resources from natural and other hazardsProviding essential services, amenities, and infrastructureRepresenting Taranaki's interests and contributions at regional, national, and international levelsAbout the roleAs the Finance Manager, you will oversee and manage all aspects of financial leadership including business partnering with other council departments, leaders, and wider community groups.This role will focus on:Nurturing a positive and collaborative culture and working environment that promotes engagement and high performanceDeveloping your team of six direct reports through coaching, mentoring, and encouraging learning opportunitiesWorking collaboratively with and supporting the finance team and internal/external stakeholders to deliver the strategic goals of the Taranaki Regional CouncilProviding strategic leadership, delivery, and management of finance and accounting services for the council, including leading the annual financial statements, Long-Term and Annual PlansLeading the implementation and ongoing development of the financial systems and processesSkills & ExperienceTo succeed in this role, you will have a proven financial leadership background in a government, professional services, or commercial environment with a focus on people management.Proven experience leading a team, coaching, and managing work programmes, performance and setting expectationsExperience with building and maintaining effective relationships and gaining the cooperation of a wide range of internal and external stakeholdersCA qualified preferably (or equivalent) with a strong understanding of technical finance and accounting principlesGood understanding of ERP systemsAbility to be culturally aware – show appreciation and understanding of Maori culture and values and put these into practice in your workBenefitsFlexible working optionsOption of a company use vehicle as part of the remuneration packageProfessional development & training opportunitiesActive social clubOnsite gymInduction programmes for every new employeeFree car parkingHow to applyIf you are a passionate, energetic people leader, looking to join an impact-driven team mandated to make a significant difference in the Taranaki community, click Apply today.This role is being managed exclusively through Moxie.
