A core accountability is financial management reporting to the Business Manager and to funding and agencies.HOURS OF WORKThis is a fixed term, part-time position (20 hours).ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESManagement of the financial activities of the organisationOversight and review of monthly financial reports.Maintain Autism New Zealand's management accounting systems and processes.Oversight and review of financial records for year-end audit.Oversight and review of monthly reconciliations.Oversight of all finance work, including payroll.Management and completion of funding applications, accountabilities and contractual reporting on time.Ensure issues or budget variances are highlighted to the Business Manager.Management of HR activities of the organisationManage and completion of the day-to-day HR processes and coordination.Oversight of contracted in HR administration.Assist the Business Manager with the development of HR policies.Manage the day-to-day health and safety requirements.Team managementManage the finance team effectively according to organisation policies and procedures.Recruit and induct staff in conjunction with the Business Manager.Provide training opportunities for the finance team based on identified staff need with the approval of the Business Manager.Supervise and evaluate direct report staff.Promptly report any significant issues to the Business Manager.AdministrationFollow delegation policy of Board.Authorise payments or delegate signing authority.Professional development and trainingParticipate in training and professional development opportunities as required, and within budget.Professional development completed on time and to the standards as required for the role.Tertiary qualification in Accountancy and is preferably Chartered Accountant.PERSON SPECIFICATIONKnowledge, skills and experienceExperience in management accountingKnowledge of MYOB EXOKnowledge of payroll systemsMethodical and systems orientedCompetent in the suite of Microsoft Office applicationsExperience in managing staffEffective organisational and prioritising skillsExcellent time-management and project management skillsExcellent communication and relationship skills – the ability to relate well to a wide range of people: staff, families, teachers, agencies, professionals, grant funders and suppliersAble to handle information sensitively and confidentiallyCommitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
