We are offering an exciting opportunity for a technologist with experience in solid state and liquid fermentation.
In a friendly and supportive laboratory environment, you will lead a small team of technicians and manage the coordination of pilot scale fungal fermentation runs and related documentation. Alongside production, you will conduct experiments to improve fermentation processes, mostly focused on yield of fungal small molecules.
To be a successful candidate you need to be a team player, perform experiments to a high standard and understand the importance of following documented processes in a regulated environment. You will be driven by timelines, pro-active and willing to learn new skills.
Minimum Requirements: PhD in bioprocessing, microbiology or related fields OR degree with significant (>5 years) experience in fermentation and manufacturing
At least 3 years' experience working in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment
Expertise in solid state and preferably also liquid fermentation
Strong mycological skills
Excellent analytical skills, data analysis and report writing skills
Good understanding of statistical analyses relevant for biological experiments
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
Good Word and Excel skills
Familiar and engaged with health & safety and containment requirements in laboratories
Desired Qualifications: Experience working in highly project-managed structure with multiple stakeholders
Clear understanding of QA/QC principles
Experience working with transgenic fermentation systems
Must have a valid NZ work visa, Residence visa or NZ Citizenship
