Kootenay Columbia College, formerly the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS) is seeking a part-time maintenance technician to support our campus development and maintenance. This position is on-site and based in Nelson, BC.
Job Description: Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance technician include general building and facility maintenance which includes basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and classroom maintenance. General facility support may also be required, which may include freight handling, moving furniture, snow removal, lawn maintenance and groundskeeping duties.

Reports to: Dean, VP Operations
Working Hours: 8-4:30
Salary: $26/Hour
Qualifications: Education and Experience
High school graduationMinimum 2 years of related experienceWHMIS certificateCriminal record check will be requiredSkills, Knowledge and Abilities
Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operationsAbilities to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materialsBasic computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suites.Must be in good physical condition and able to lift 50 lbs or moreValid BC Driver's LicenseMust own their own tools and vehicle - pick up truck or van suitable for moving large objects when neededMust be willing and able to travel between KCC campuses in Nelson areaReliability, trustworthiness, and ability to work independently is expectedAble to respond quickly and reliably to work requestsDuties and Responsibilities: Performs general facility support and maintenance duties including:
Prioritizing daily duties and projectsResponding to inquiries and requests for facility assistance from admin teamResponsible for the completion of all maintenance services requests as assignedPerforming maintenance duties as they ariseTroubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems (leaking faucets, clogged toilets, etc.)Performs minor building repairs including drywall, paint, flooring, carpentry, ceiling tilesCoordinates with trades people when requiredPerforms regular site inspections of the facilities and mechanical equipment to ensure proper operationsOverseeing or performing removal of recycling and wasteRequisitioning and/or purchasing supplies for building maintenancePerforming freight handling dutiesAssisting trades as requiredPerforming snow removal and other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped areasSetting up for special eventsFollow Health and Safety Policies and Safe Work practiceAbout Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences (KCCIHS), formerly the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences (ACOS), is a well-established post-secondary private college in operation since 1996.
