Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Details of the offer

Steltech is New Zealand's leading supplier of welded structural steel solutions to the construction sector. For the past 35 years we have been focused on providing New Zealand made, high quality steel solutions. With our head office located in Manukau and our manufacturing facility located in Takanini, we focus our time and efforts on creating optimised solutions using NZ Made raw materials.
What you will be doing
While reporting to the Operations Superintendent, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide leadership and guidance to ensure the maintenance and ongoing care of the manufacturing facility and assets through front line diagnostics of equipment faults, initial repairs as capable and by implementing preventative strategies that will be executed by specialist contractors.
As the facilities maintenance engineer, you will be required to be the subject matter expert for all aspects of compliance with legislative requirements and to ensure all Steltech products meet the machinery required standards once produced. Your ability to help with concept design scoping as part of our continuous improvement journey will be a great addition.
What you will bring to the role
You will be joining a small operations-focused team located at our Takanini facility. Ideally, but not fundamentally, you will have some background in mechanical or electrical engineering. You must have hands-on mechanical trade experience; some level of education in the electrical field would be an advantage.
Your ability to focus on detail when required while being able to see the bigger picture will be a key attribute we will appreciate. Your excellent communication skills, coupled with proven decision-making and problem-solving skills, will ensure you stand out from the crowd.
Bring your experience and join an environment with a focus on health and wellbeing, quality, and continuous improvement. Your ability to work in a team environment along with your uncompromising attitude to safety will ensure your success.
What we can offer
With Steltech owned by New Zealand Steel, which is part of the BlueScope brand, it makes us a strong and successful global company offering connections throughout the world and providing access to resources and tools from the wider business. We believe our people are our strength and embrace diversity and inclusion as we aim to have the right people in the right roles to move us into the future.
We have opportunities for learning and development and an excellent remuneration package with a supportive team environment.
