Picture this: indoor courts and Olympic-sized lane pool alive with recreation & sport programmes and leisure activities, heart-pounding hydroslides and dive boards, aquatic sensory experiences, plus an incredible water adventure playground and splash deck for our tamariki, all serving the needs of our diverse community.
This amazing facility will open in late 2025 and complement the Council network of facilities across Otautahi including the Recreation and Sport Centres: Graham Condon, Jellie Park, Matatiki, Pioneer, Taiora QEII, Te Pou Toetoe, and Cowles Stadium.

We are now seeking an experienced and dedicated Facilities Leader to maintain this state of the art facility within the Recreation & Sports Unit.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei You will play a vital part in the establishment of Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre. Each day will bring new challenges and a diverse range of tasks and projects to tackle.
Some Of The Key Responsibilities Will Include Providing expert technical advice relating to Facilities Management of Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre.
Ensure the delivery of scheduled, preventative and reactive maintenance.
Provide ongoing training to facility employees to understand, follow and participate where appropriate in maintenance processes.
About you | Ko Koe Tenei To Excel In This Role, You Will Be practical and proactive, with the ability to solve problems effectively as challenges arise.
Hold a current, full New Zealand driver's licence.
Ideally, you will have experience in facility management and/or knowledge of building or trades.
Have the relevant Health & Safety qualification (Site Safe Gold Card or similar).

Additional Information | Ko etahi atu korero: Hours of work: Permanent, 40 hours per week. Initially and prior to Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre opening, you will work Monday to Friday. After the opening, your scheduled days of work will change to include one weekend day (Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday).
Salary: This will be discussed with the successful applicant.
Location: This position is primarily based at Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre, Central City.
