Trees for Survival (TfS) is a Charitable Trust providing an environmental restoration and education programme for primary and secondary school students.
The TfS programme takes students, whanau and local communities on a journey of growing native plants from seedlings at their school and then planting them out along streams and on erosion prone land. Together, they learn the importance of riparian planting for climate action, biodiversity restoration & waterway rehabilitation.
The Facilitator role is a part-time position, responsible for leading, coordinating and developing the Trees for Survival environmental restoration and education programme.
Specifically, we are looking for a Facilitator to care for a cluster of our schools in Western Bay of Plenty.
Your role is to ensure the Trees for Survival programme works effectively in all the allocated schools and includes the following tasks:
Liaising with schools, community groups and landowners.
Coordinating the potting on day September/October.
Counting plant species in November and February.
Undertaking site monitoring and site assessments in January / February.
Data collection and reporting regarding plantings.
To be the right fit for this position you must be a person who is willing to get the job done, can work with a small, passionate, professional team and have a basic knowledge of native flora of Aotearoa New Zealand.
