About the role
We are currently seeking an experienced skilled hands-on Fabrication Workshop Manager to join our team and drive excellence in our workshop operations. This is a busy role with a variety of existing and sometimes unusual projects to work on.
You will play a crucial role in our business, and this position suits a highly organized individual with the ability to work collaboratively and lead the workshop team. Your responsibilities include engaging with customers, maintaining our quality standards, planning labour resources, ensuring jobs are managed in the most cost-effective manner and are completed within required deadlines.
Responsibilities
Supervise day to day operations of the workshop, ensuring smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
Allocate resources effectively, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to optimize workshop productivity and meet project deadlines.
Foster a supportive and safety-conscious work environment for the team.
Implement and maintain quality control standards to ensure high-quality service delivery and adherence to safety regulations.
Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex technical issues and challenges faced by the workshop team.
Interact with clients to understand their requirements, provide technical advice, and ensure customer satisfaction through efficient service delivery and maintained quality standards.
Manage and track jobs through a computer based ERP system.
About you
You will be an experienced leader with a passion for delivering great engineering solutions as well as investing in people so they are set up for success.
Education & experience
Experience leading teams in an operational workshop environment.
Trade qualified with practical mechanical engineering skills and experience in Heavy Fabrication and/or Fitting and Machining.
Be self-motivated and have a high standard of workmanship.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
Excellent communication skills to engage at all levels and build sustainable relationships with our great team.
Highly organized and able to deal with conflicting priorities and work under pressure.
Champion of health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
Good computer literacy and experience working systems.
