Export Sales Manager - Key Linkage Role Between Customers And Production

Our client, Kiwi Lumber is a significant and progressive sawmilling company that re-manufactures and markets Radiata Pine to markets across the USA, Australia, Europe, Asia and New Zealand.  The group consists of four modern sawmills located in Masterton, Dannevirke, Gisborne and Putaruru and employs close to 300 staff.  This crucial export sales opportunity is based in their head office in Hawkes Bay. Your core focus will be managing their sales and customers in Europe and Asia based export markets, as well as some domestic sales. Your customers in these markets rely heavily on timely delivery of product that meets tight market specifications – and there can be a real balancing act in analysing and planning to effectively meet the market expectations and balance the manufacturing and production capacity. A big factor here will not only be sales and customer management but also your link with the production teams, to ensure your customer requirements are met.  Your primary objective will be ensuring Kiwi Lumber are producing and selling the most profitable products and providing a high level of customer service to the markets you are responsible for.  You will work closely with the production teams, ensuring strict delivery time frames are achieved and product quality is of the highest standard.  Strong planning and organisational skills will be a prerequisite.  You must relate well to manufacturing environments. You will ideally have previous sales and account management experience, but the crucial element will be your relatability to production and manufacturing based businesses where the product you are selling in market is linked closely to your production teams outputs.  A background in the timber industry is preferred, however not essential.  Experience in the primary, construction or manufacturing industry will also be highly regarded.  A tertiary qualification would be advantageous, a high level of computer literacy and affinity to systems is essential and you will clearly demonstrate strong analysis and planning skills. Communication and engagement will be crucial here, both with customers and across the production teams – you will be known for your interpersonal skills and confident nature.  You will be able to influence and negotiate at all levels, with the ability to quickly build strong relationships both internally and externally.
