We seek a competent and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Paneltech Contractors Limited based in North Canterbury.
As our Quantity Surveyor, you will manage all building project costs, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Your role will be highly critical in ensuring the financial success of our construction projects.
As a vital team member, you will work closely with architects, engineers, the Paneltech Contractors Operations Manager, and other professionals to manage the project costs and ensure it is complete within the stipulated budget. Your expertise and advice will be crucial in ensuring that construction projects are profitable and financially sustainable.

Objectives of this role Preparation of cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documents.Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms.Managing project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs.Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and financial transactions.Provide expert advice on procurement, risk management and cost-saving measures. Your tasks Participation in the pre-tendering activities with client, architect and project managers and raising relevant pre-bid queries from the given tender.Monitor and control costs throughout the project, identifying cost-saving opportunities.Preparing the initial quote and contract. Coordination with the Operations Manager for analysing architectural and service drawings.Manage and preparing interim and final valuations, variations and claims of the construction site.Collaborate with stakeholders to optimise project outcomes and achieve value for money.Required skills and qualifications Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management or a related field.5+ years of experience in quantity surveying or cost consulting, preferably in the construction industry.Sound knowledge of New Zealand construction industry practices, regulations and standards.Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques.Familiarity with contract law, and the legal aspects of construction projects.Understanding general contracting, design-build, package contracting in commercial developmentsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary negotiation abilities.Knowledge of health and safety regulations and environmental standards.Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
