Taranaki Outdoor Pursuits and Education Centre is seeking an experienced instructor to join our adventure seeking, passionate outdoor education team.
TOPEC offers outdoor education programmes for primary, secondary and tertiary students. Nestled in native bush on the edge of the Waiwhakaiho River, 10 minutes to the surf beaches, 20 minutes to Mt Taranaki, means minimal driving and maximum adventure for work and play!
The programmes we deliver range from day-long, week to year long; grass roots outdoor education, experiential adventures, NCEA classes to more technical tertiary levels 3, 4 & 5.
NZOIA level 1 awards is a preference, but not essential. Opportunity to explore environmental sustainability initiatives, Matauranga Maori while out on the rivers, sea, rock, mountain, bush.

Taranaki Outdoor Pursuits and Education Centre (TOPEC) is managed by the TOPEC Trust and is a registered charity, set up by Taranaki Secondary Schools and Service groups.
Our staff are amongst the most experienced, committed, and competent outdoor enthusiasts. The location, facilities, and specialist equipment here at TOPEC allow for us to provide experiences that exceed expectations.
School courses are created to meet classroom needs and include residential programmes, NCEA courses, the Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award, and secondary-tertiary NZ Certificate courses.
Our centre is located on the banks of the Waiwhakaiho River, just outside of Ngamotu, New Plymouth, and is situated in an area that allows us to make the most of the taonga of Taranaki - the sea, rivers, bush and iconic Taranaki Maunga.
