Due to an internal promotion, we are now seeking an experienced Operations Technician to join our team.
The Operations Technician will operate and maintain all Kupe hydrocarbon production, processing and storage facilities in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner to meet production plans and targets.
These facilities are continuous process operations requiring Operations Technicians to work 12-hour shifts, days and nights, 6 on / 6 off roster to provide the minimum manning requirements.
The role includes training to support the Kupe Wellhead Platform, flying from the heliport at the New Plymouth Airport and the Kupe Omata tank farm located in New Plymouth.
Key responsibilities will include:
Draining, purging, isolating and making safe process equipment to allow maintenance activities to be completed safely.
Being a member of the site emergency response team participating in drills, exercises and actual emergencies following the instruction of the Incident Coordinator.
Developing the required safety, process, emergency response and other competencies as required by the role and assigned by the Shift Superintendents.
Becoming a competent operator of the control panel under the guidance of Senior Operators and the Shift Superintendents.
Writing and preparing Isolation procedures to complete maintenance activities.
About You
The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong safety and compliance focus from prior roles in oil and gas, petrochemical, or similar industries, along with the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing responsibilities.
You should show enthusiasm for completing required competencies and progressing to at least a Senior Operator position. Additionally, you will maintain high performance standards for yourself and others, taking responsibility and accountability for successfully completing tasks while setting and adhering to self-imposed standards of excellence.
You will also need:
Sound understanding of key operational and plant safety systems, Process and Electrical Isolations, Process Draining and Purging, Emergency Response, Permit to Work and SOP's
High level of understanding of procedural and system requirements in processing plants and general oil and gas operations
Cert in Energy Process Operations, Level 3, will be highly regarded.
