This dynamic role requires creativity and flair, especially for the many weddings hosted at Puketutu Island, where you'll have the opportunity to bring innovative, bespoke menus to life. You'll also collaborate closely with the Executive Sous Chef, who oversees our main base facility, to ensure the delivery of exceptional food experiences across all events.In this role, you will assist the Executive Chef in positioning Urban Gourmet as Auckland's premier catering business. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of quality and creativity while managing costs to ensure a profitable food operation. Key to your success will be fostering a strong team culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and labour regulations, and staying on top of industry trends to keep our offerings fresh and market-driven.You'll also have the chance to strategically plan and execute large offsite events, managing the entire process from preparation to execution. Your leadership and problem-solving abilities will be crucial in delivering outstanding food and service while driving recruitment and talent development within the team.The shift pattern for this role includes some weekend work, night events with rotating shifts during the week.About YouWith a proven track record in leading a busy kitchen operation you are someone with:Highly developed culinary skills and an ability to create new, innovative and exciting dishes.A desire for researching and responding to trends in the local and international food industry.A proven track record in leadership with individuals and teams.A high level of experience in quality management of your kitchen operations.Capability to ensure that HR practices including induction and on the job training of your kitchen team members is completed in accordance with our desire to be a good employer.An ability to proactively solve problems.A desire to lead the health, safety and wellness practices within the kitchen, ensuring that staff are trained to complete their work in a safe environment and supporting effective reporting and compliance.Experience managing budgets and a proven record of meeting financial goals.Effective communication skills and the personality to motivate and interact with all levels within the organisation.A minimum of three years' experience as an Executive Sous Chef in a similar high volume, quality food service establishment.About UsWe are leaders in food innovation and event management, with internationally and locally experienced chefs supporting multi-room, multi-function venues with purpose-built state of the art kitchens.
