Biculturalism is a founding philosophy and practice of Te Papa designed to explore the contribution of Maori language and culture to the life, culture and activities of the museum in small and large ways.
We are seeking a self-motivated, high-energy Event Manager who shares our passion for delivering memorable, culturally rich experiences and can bring a high level of expertise and leadership to our events team. This person will lead the design, strategic planning, promotion, facilitation, and delivery of world-class events that align with Te Papa's strategic goal and are commercially viable.
To be successful in the role, you'll bring the following At least five years proven work experience in event management, event business development, event delivery and event coordination, preferably within the cultural, arts, or hospitality sectors. Experience managing large-scale events is essential.
Cultural Awareness: Deep understanding of New Zealand's cultural landscape, with a commitment to Te Papa's bicultural values and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. Ability to exercise tikanga Maori, including a basic understanding of te reo Maori.
You will be a self-starter, highly motivated and excited to develop relationships with clients and plan the delivery of key events with exceptional service. Attention to detail will be your superpower. You will have creativity, vision and a passion for people, Arts and Culture.
Applicants must be able to work flexible, full-time hours, including evenings and weekends. This role requires helping to set up and break down the events, as well as running the event, therefore a level of physical fitness and ability to remain standing for a period of time is required.

The full salary range for this position is $67,669 - $93,045 per annum. Offers will be made within the range to reflect the skills and experience offered by the candidate and those required of the role, and internal relativities with other employees.
