Open Polytechnic, a business division of Te Pukenga is Aotearoa New Zealand's specialist online learning provider. We specialise in taking the learning to our students, focusing on enabling the success of approximately 30,000 akonga each year. We're a place where you can make a difference.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced candidate to lead our Learning Delivery directorate as Acting Executive Director Learning Delivery. As a secondment from your permanent substantive role, this is expected to be for a fixed term of up to 6 months to cover parental leave for the incumbent. The period of appointment is from early February 2025 to August 2025.

The Executive Director Learning Delivery is part of the polytechnic's Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for the delivery of learning and teaching activities. This includes facilitation and teaching, student mentoring, assessment, research, and associated educational support services.

This role is open to current permanent employees of Te Pukenga only. Open Polytechnic offers flexible working arrangements to our kaimahi. In this role, as a member of the polytechnic's Executive leadership team, regular attendance on campus is an expectation.

The ideal candidate will have

A higher level tertiary qualification

Senior management experience

Experience in tertiary education and academic leadership, with a good understanding of distance learning and e-learning

Experience leading and managing professionally qualified staff

Sound knowledge of digital educational delivery and associated staff training and competence requirements

Cultural capability skills and professional practice that recognises the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
