EOI Corrections Officer Auckland Region Women's Corrections FacilityAbout this roleWith ongoing successful recruitment rounds, we are nearing full capacity for Auckland Region Women's Correction Facility for Correction Officer roles. As a result, we are accepting Expressions of Interest should you wish to be considered for Corrections Officer roles in the Auckland Region in the coming months of 2025. Please note that due to staffing needs, female applications will be prioritised. Ko wai matou | Who we are Auckland Region Women's Corrections Facility is based in Manukau, South Auckland and is the only Female prison in Auckland. It currently houses over 350 of the nation's female prison population. You will join a dedicated and supportive team managing the well-being, health, and safety of the women at our site. Our facility caters for those on Remand and Sentenced, at all levels of security classification. We also house a purpose-built 'mothers with babies' unit on-site. We recognise the women we manage have different needs to men and we have set an approach that will give our women the care, treatment, encouragement, counselling, skills, and support required to shape better futures for themselves, their children, and their families.

Mo te tunga | About the role As a Corrections Officer, you will be working in a challenging environment supported by a team of experienced professional colleagues. You will engage with people in a positive way and will have the opportunity to not only change the lives of the people in Prison but also whanau by influencing change through your interactions. You will spend much of your time working within the unit(s), supervising the people in Prison with their daily routines, escorting them around the site to education programmes or other appointments. You will monitor, assess and manage behaviour and safety, help control, and lessen any conflict within the unit(s).

A positive mindsetAbility to engage with whanau, iwi and hapuMotivated to make a positive impact in your communityInspired by having the opportunity to change someone's lifeBe able to work rostered shifts across 24/7 pattern including weekends and public holidaysExperience within a Kaupapa Maori or Pasifika environment, while not essential is desirableRelevant experience within a people-focused role, i.e., Security, Police, Military, Healthcare or similar where you have built an understanding of how to facilitate positive outcomes for others. Along with your unique skills and perspective we also need you to have the following:
You are required to have a full New Zealand driver licenceLegally able to work full-time in New Zealand or the ability to meet and obtain visitor visa requirements to attend assessment centre, if shortlisted.Pre-employment checks are also required and include: Drug test, full disclosure criminal conviction check (Clean Slate Act does not apply), medical assessment, physical fitness assessment, and reference checks.
We provide fully paid training, you will commence training on our CODP (Corrections Officer Development Pathway) which involves an initial week's induction onsite, five weeks at our National Learning Centre in Wellington then six weeks back at your site, before graduating and from there, the learning journey will be ongoing.
