Environmental Technician - Rotowaro 10267 About Bathurst: Bathurst Resources is New Zealand's largest specialist coal mine company. We produced over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 550 people. About 80 percent of our production is used for steel making, of which one third is used by a local New Zealand steel mill. Our high-quality, thermal-grade coal fuels are used to help drive the engines of many iconic South Island food and dairy businesses. Rotowaro: The Rotowaro coalfield and opencast mine is the second largest opencast coal mine in New Zealand and is in the North Waikato region, 10km west of Huntly. The Opportunity: Reporting to the North Island Environmental Manager, you will be assisting with general activities within the environmental discipline. The primary purpose of this position is to ensure that mining and related activities at Rotowaro and Maramarua Mines are carried out in accordance with the relevant Resource Consents and Permit requirements, assisting in operational projects arising from regulatory compliance requirements, national environmental standards and mine plans. Some of the key result areas of the position include: Health and Safety Risk Management Environmental Projects assistance Environmental Co-ordination, Monitoring and Response Environmental Technical Support What you will bring to the role: Understand aspects of environmental management More than three years' experience in a Mining Operations role or similar. Good written / oral communication skills Excellent organizational and planning skills Three years' secondary school education Ability to multi-task and prioritise Ability to work alone, and as part of a team Ability to work and deliver to deadlines Computer skills in Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook Physically capable of navigating a variety of surfaces and situations Full and current NZ driver licence with relevant role required endorsements Please note successful candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete a thorough pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol testing.
