We really are a company that wants to make a positive difference.Watercare has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dynamic Environmental Scientist to join our team.In this role you will:Manage the resource compliance needs of our Network Discharge ConsentContribute towards an integrated and cross organisation wastewater network strategyAssist with the implementation of an environmental monitoring programme associated with the Network Discharge ConsentInvestigate and develop solutions for non-compliances, especially where there are adverse environmental effectsRespond to environmental incidents and undertake environmental investigationsContribute to developing Watercare's scientific capabilities and our understanding of environmental impactsContribute to the Safeswim programme in collaboration with Healthy watersWork with other team members and business groups on environmental enhancement and improvement projectsContribute to community engagement in relation to operational performance of the wastewater networkIn this role you will bring:An honours degree (or equivalent) in environmental science or management, environmental engineering or another related fieldExcellent verbal and written communication abilitiesProven ability to manage and audit data and data collection systems, with proficiency in Excel, familiarity with GIS, and some experience with R or similar statistical toolsProven ability to operate in a collaborative environmentA working understanding of the Resource Management Act, regional plans and resource consents is desirableExperience in the water and wastewater industry is preferable, but not essential.We offer a competitive salary and staff benefits package including:Training and development opportunitiesLife and income protection insurance plansGenerous parental leaveEmployee discounts at a range of large retailersMe pehea te tono mai | How to ApplyCome and join our team!
