Details of the offer

The Company: NZ Environmental Management is a well-established Northland based Environmental Management Consultancy offering a comprehensive range of services for our customers. We pride ourselves on having a highly experienced, multidisciplinary team that can provide a range of services; it is this depth of skills that sets us apart from others. We have an excellent work environment, impressive core clients and an exciting forward workload with a broad range of interesting and challenging opportunities. Built on a 20 year company history, we have many exciting long term projects, including continuous environmental monitoring at Ngawha Geothermal Power Station, and the full lifecycle of contaminated land and ecological services on high profile major construction projects. In addition, we have sister companies that complement our services with engineering design and civil project management. This affords easy access to technical support, fantastic opportunities for professional development and variety for our staff. The opportunity: We have an opportunity for an Environmental Practitioner with a passion for contaminated land to provide expert advice and support to our clients on their projects across Northland. This position is based in Northland, with a choice of office location between Kerikeri and Whangarei. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will be fully supported by our Certified Environmental Practitioner who specialises in HAIL, and the wider team. In this role you will undertake preliminary and detailed site investigations and write high quality HAIL reports for a wide range of clients and projects. The role includes client liaison, fieldwork and reporting. It will be well supported by internal team members to ensure the best results and outcomes for all. A high level of interfacing with staff, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and local iwi is required. There is infinite scope in this role to follow your own interests and seek out projects that you'll enjoy. Key Responsibilities: * Undertaking preliminary and detailed site investigations. * Preparation of high-quality HAIL reports as well as preparation of remediation action plans and site validation reports as required. * Preparation of remediation management plans and any ongoing monitoring. * Undertaking environmental monitoring fieldwork such as soil testing and water testing. * Managing a project from initial client liaison, through estimating, field work and communication of results. * Managing a project on time and to budget. * Responsibility for following the company's processes and procedures, ensuring process documents are kept up to date as required by the Quality Management System (QMS). Work undertaken will extend beyond contaminated land and may include environmental monitoring and ecology work, engineering support and project management as part of a bigger team. About you: You will be an experienced Environmental Practitioner, with a relevant Bachelors or higher degree, or equivalent experience. You should be a Certified Environmental Practitioner, or have the necessary skills and experience to achieve CEnvP certification. This role requires at least 5 years' experience in Contaminated Land investigation with familiarity with the Contaminated Land Guidelines and Regulatory Framework. Experience with LUC and the NPS for Highly Productive Land and associated assessments is also desirable. You will be self-directed and able to undertake projects from planning and quoting stage through to project completion. You should be prepared to undertake field work and have excellent communication, report writing and peer review skills. Project management skills are highly valued and will lead to more varied opportunities. You will have the right attitude to fit into our team environment, work alongside our clients and varied stakeholders and meet the challenges that invariably pop up on complex projects. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand and have a full New Zealand driver license. In return: We pride ourselves on being a great place to work and providing an environment that suits our staff. Flexible employment options are available (part time would be considered) and you will be offered a tailored renumeration package to suit your skills, experience and qualifications. There is a choice of working from multiple locations, including sometimes from home, and work/life balance. A full time position would include a company car and fuel card.
