Are you looking to build your environmental monitoring career?
Join our Rotorua Field Team where you will collect environmental data in a wide range of environments using a variety of instrumentation and techniques.
What you will be doing:
NIWA Field Teams consist of Environmental Monitoring Technicians who are the core capability for providing highly skilled expertise in the design, maintenance, and operation of environmental sensing systems (including related data processing and analytics tasks).
What you will bring:
If you are a technician with a positive customer service ethic, who can demonstrate good data and technical skills, and enjoys working within a team dedicated to enhancing environmental monitoring and information services for a leading NZ science organisation, then this opportunity is for you!
To be successful in this role you will have:

A love of the great outdoors,
A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in environmental monitoring (hydrology, water quality or meteorology),
Demonstrated competency in technical, instrumentation or data processing and analytical skills,
The capability to expand on and learn new technical skill sets,
Confidence around water (rivers, lakes, and sea; swimming ability is preferred),
A current NZ driver's license, and
Excellent communication skills.

This position will encompass a range of expectations and responsibilities relevant to the applicant's technical experience and expertise, with associated training and development provided. Occasional travel to various North Island regions for scheduled work when directed is a requirement.
