Mix of field & office-based, multi-disciplinary focus.
Ensuring the environment is protected while monitoring a diverse range of resource-consented activities, national standards, and regulations. You will spend considerable time out of the office on site while monitoring these activities. These activities include a range of residential developments and commercial developments including some of the country's most complex and critical infrastructure projects. In addition, you will ensure many more rural activities including wastewater, stormwater, managed fills, and many more, are also being conducted appropriately, all with a view to protecting the environment and the people who enjoy it. As an Environmental Monitoring Officer, you will be at the forefront of protecting, and promoting positive environmental outcomes and compliance. No two days will be the same!
These full-time permanent roles work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday and are based in North West Auckland.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to talk to people with a variety of backgrounds to negotiate and influence positive environmental outcomes. Strong decision-making skills, and an ability to interpret resource consents, plans, the Resource Management Act, and the Unitary Plan, is also an important aspect of the job. Managing your time effectively is critical to your success in this role as you deal with multiple tasks and priorities. A university-level qualification in environmental management, environmental science, or planning is preferred.
