With a mix of travel to our site network, supported by flexible work arrangements from our central hub offices, this team connects in with many areas of Silver Fern Farms.Te Turanga | About the Role:As an Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that environmental policies and strategies are effectively implemented, ensure a consistent approach to environmental management and compliance is being undertaken across multiple sites, driving key initiatives, and supporting continuous improvements to achieve sustainability goals.
This role, done well, ensures that Silver Fern Farms maintains our social licence to operate, and meets our compliance based requirements too.This is a broad ranging role that partners with our Site Leadership, Corporate Operations teams, and our Sustainability business unit, among others.Key responsibilities include:Overseeing environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with resource consents, and improving site performanceConnecting and building relationships with key external parties, regulatory agencies, mana whenua, consultants, and contract providersReporting on environmental aspects to internal and external stakeholders including regulators and auditorsUnderstand and work to deliver on our Sustainability Action Plan, which includes improving water and wastewater management, biodiversity projects, and circularity through waste reduction/diversion including compostingLeading and mentoring site teams to ensure environmental best practices and continuous improvementsCollaborating with internal teams like Operations, Engineering, and Sustainability to implement environmental action plans and improve site practiceThis role primarily partners with sites within the South Island, therefore, operating centrally from either our Christchurch or Dunedin Hub offices is preferred.Ou Pukenga | About YouWe are looking for an energetic, proactive individual with a growth mindset, and a passion for sustainability & environmental management.
You'll thrive in a team environment, be self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently and take ownership over key deliverables.Key attributes for success in this role include:Knowledge and experience in environmental compliance and flexibility to navigate the changing environmental management regulatory landscape - this is the highest priorityIn-depth knowledge of business solutions, agriculture, pastoral farming, food industry, red meat sector, and/or water and wastewaterA passion for continuous improvement and sustainability in the food and agriculture sectorsProven ability to lead and influence key stakeholders across various levelsExcellent communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage relationshipsThe ability to travel regularly, approx.
