Environmental Health Officer - 12-month Fixed-Term Parental Leave Cover South Wairarapa District Council (SWDC) is a small council supporting the people of Martinborough, Featherston, Greytown and the surrounding district.

The role is integral to that.
We are currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer (12-months Fixed-Term Parental Leave cover) .
In this role, you'll cover a wide range of responsibilities such as food licensing, licensing under the Health Act 1956, liquor licensing, and addressing environmental issues such as trade waste, noise monitoring, infectious diseases, and bylaws enforcement to ensure compliance.
You'll also contribute to health promotion initiatives and provide education and advice about Environmental Health and licensing to the public.
Our preferred candidate will have: National Diploma in Environmental Health Science or equivalent.
Working knowledge of relevant NZ statutes, regulations and codes of practice.
Relevant practical experience, preferably in the application of public and environmental health in a local government situation.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to public service and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
The ability to maintain objectivity where required.
Proven conflict resolution skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
