About the role: The role of an Environmental Health Officer has a range of responsibilities focussing largely on the verification and inspection of food premises registered under the Food Act 2014, enquiring, interviewing, and reporting on alcohol licence applications and managers certificates as well as investigating both noise issues and general health nuisances.
This is a role with a good mix of field and office work, which means we're looking for someone with a diverse skill set, who has the ability to problem solve and think on their feet.
You must have exceptional communication and customer service skills with a calm, solution-focused approach to issues and be organised with a great sense of humour.
The successful candidate will have sound decision-making skills and confidence applying and interpreting legislation and policy to relevant situations.
About you: Having a degree in Science, majoring in environmental health, health science or equivalent is essential.
We also envisage the successful applicant will have some experience working in environmental health and public health compliance and enforcement roles.
While applicants with experience are preferred, we are happy to consider applications from recent graduates.
