We are currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer (Fixed-Term Parental Leave cover up to Nov 25) . In this role you'll cover a wide range of responsibilities such as food licensing, licensing under the Health Act 1956, liquor licensing and environmental issues such as trade waste, noise monitoring, infectious diseases and bylaws enforcement ensuring compliance in these areas. You'll also contribute to health promotion initiatives and provide education and advice about Environmental Health and licensing to the public.
Our preferred candidate will have:
National Diploma in Environmental Health Science or equivalent (as outlined on the MOH website).
Working knowledge of relevant NZ statutes, regulations and codes of practice.
Relevant practical experience, preferably in the application of public and environmental health in a local government situation; however, we will also consider a graduate for this role.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to public service and the ability to work with a diverse range of people.
The ability to maintain objectivity where required.
Proven conflict resolution skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
