Environmental/Design Consultant Peter Hansen Drainage Limited is a local, family-based drainage business in Rangiora that specialises in providing and installing residential, commercial and civil drain laying solutions and septic tank designs and installations. You will become a key member of our team, within a business that understands the importance of providing a positive work/life balance. The role We are looking for someone with junior-intermediate level environmental management or earth science experience that has knowledge in environmental assessments. Our ideal candidate will be driven, takes the initiative, has a desire to learn and comes to work with a positive attitude. They will be able to take responsibility of our wastewater and stormwater designs, resource consents and environmental assessments, including liaising with our clients and local and district councils. We are offering the role as a part-time (2-3 days/week) position. You will: * Complete desktop investigations/environmental assessments of client properties. * Prepare rural wastewater treatment and discharge and stormwater discharge designs. * Provide design advice and prepare reports relating to the discharge of urban residential stormwater. * Prepare resource consent applications and assessment of environmental effects relating to the treatment and discharge of wastewater to land. * Provide advice and liaise with clients, local/district councils and others in the wastewater industry, where necessary. Other tasks may include: * Weekly scheduling. * Quoting. * On-site visits, field work (test pits, soakage tests). * Marketing. Background and Skills * Undergraduate degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not essential. * Passionate about learning, problem solving and working with our clients to find the best solutions for managing their wastewater and stormwater. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable you to work and liaise with our valued clients, local and district councils and others in the drainage and wastewater industries. * Experience in using Canterbury Maps or other GIS software would be beneficial. * Knowledge of/experience in the preparation of resource consents or understanding of planning regulations.
