Job DescriptionResponsible for coordinating a baseline environmental monitoring programme to ensure high-quality environmental data is collected prior to a new project commencing. Ensures that there are robust monitoring, reviewing and reporting systems in place in order to demonstrate compliance with consent conditions. Completes relevant projects within the Environmental area (or in conjunction with other departments as required) in an accurate and timely manner that ensures compliance with statutory acts, regulations, consent conditions and company environmental standards. The Environmental Advisor is to provide environmental, site and consent knowledge to relevant projects either by management, coordination, or participation in projects.QualificationsCoordinate a baseline environmental monitoring programme to collect groundwater level, groundwater quality, surface water quality, and stream flow data.Oversee the installation and maintenance of environmental monitoring instrumentation, including meteorological, groundwater, and surface water monitoring equipment.Manage data from the monitoring network, undertake QA/QC, and communicate data to relevant parties including consultants.Assist the operation to meet all OceanaGold standards and guidelines.Participate or lead audits on company standards (environmental and safety) as required.Conduct environmental inspections.Assist other Environmental staff undertaking monitoring and reporting activities.Liaise with personnel, consultants, auditors, and legal advisors to ensure company environmental targets are achieved.Provide specialist environmental advice to projects and personnel as required.Prepare and review management plans in conjunction with the relevant departments to ensure consent and legal compliance.Ensure site awareness of regulatory and statutory obligations through day-to-day interaction and specific training and awareness.Assist with the preparation and writing of compliance reports as directed.Identify and implement environmental improvements.Monitoring and assessment of water, sound, air quality, vibration, ecology, and rehabilitation activities.Advise appropriate site personnel of any non-compliances, non-conformances or environmental irregularities and assist in resolutions.Carry out administrative functions (write reports, attend meetings, and disseminate information, complete purchase and service orders) commensurate with role.Participation in an on-call roster to provide 24/7 coverage for monitoring.Additional InformationGrow your career with an international mining company!
