We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Environmental Advisor to join our team in Central Otago. The position plays a pivotal role in ensuring our operational work adheres to the highest environmental standards, while adding significant value through your expertise and proactive approach.
You will ensure the regional business is operating with the appropriate consents, prepare resource consent applications, and provide regulatory compliance advice and support to operational teams.
You will conduct environmental assessments and audits, identifying potential risks and proposing solutions to minimise environmental impact, and support the business to maintain regulatory compliance to uphold our commitment to environmental stewardship.
In addition to the above you will: Advise on operational environmental compliance issues and provide guidance on best practices.Ensure that all new consents are embedded into the business by undertaking a handover process with operational staff.Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, iwi and community groups to foster positive relationships and promote environmental stewardship.Provide environmental management training to managers and employees.Prepare and contribute environmental and sustainability input into regional tenders for future work.Prepare and monitor environmental management plans in accordance with industry regulations and company standards.Stay informed and keep an overview of all new policy and legislative changes which may impact the regional business. We're looking for someone with: At least 3 years proven experience in an environmental management or planning position, within the civil engineering or construction industry, or regulatory body.A tertiary qualification in Resource Management Planning or Environmental Management.Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements in New Zealand.Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple work tasks simultaneously.The ability to listen and communicate effectively with people at all levels to understand what is required to empower them, and to be able to build meaningful relationships.An excellent problem solver, team player and logical thinker.The ability to translate Environmental legislation into everyday language to drive continual improvement.Previous experience carrying out on-site audits.Full proficiency in Microsoft Office.Current NZ Driver Licence.All successful candidates must undergo and pass a pre-employment medical and drug screen prior to employment.
