The Role Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager and based in Auckland, you will be spending a mix of your time in office and our North Island depots and worksites, undertaking advisory and assessment work, as well as lifting the capability around environmental management and sustainability with our team from the field and office in our Contracting Business.
Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing support in assurance activities (including worksite site and system audits) across the various regions in Northpower.
Assisting in maintenance of the existing Environmental & Sustainability plans for the Contracting Division.
Coaching and mentoring our teams as required in environmental management and sustainability matters.
Providing specific support for any controlled documents and initiatives that focus on environmental management and environmental sustainability; reviewing policies, procedures to ensure they are up to date.
Performing timely internal environmental system audits as per HSQE assurance plan to check for performance against ISO 14001:2015 environmental management system requirements.

About You As an Environmental Advisor, you'll champion environmental management and sustainability principles, drawing from your 3-5 years of proven experience in these fields within utilities or local government organisations.
Your innate ability to connect with people will allow you to build and maintain collaborative relationships across diverse teams, from management to field staff and external stakeholders.
Additionally, your confidence and respectful intervention in unsafe situations will contribute to your success in this role.
You'll be able to demonstrate your: Relevant business or tertiary qualification in Environmental Management or Environmental Sciences.
Good understanding of environmental management and sustainability principles and practices pertaining to the electrical distribution and transmission industry.
ISO 14001:2015 (EMS) and/or lead auditing qualifications are desirable.
Environmental management and auditing experience.
Strong analytical focus for identifying and exploiting opportunities to deliver improved operational performance outcomes.
Great communication skills, show initiative and a level of professionalism to meet expectations of this role.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products to support administration requirements.
Enjoy working as part of a team, yet able to work self-directed.
Ability to foresee challenges, read situations and respond efficiently and effectively.
Tenacity in taking problems through to successful outcomes despite potential barriers.
Full, clean Driver's License; willingness to travel to NP regional offices across North Island.
