MIT's Secondary Tertiary High is an exciting secondary school structure that functions within MIT and offers year 11-13 rangatahi a second chance to re-engage with NCEA levels 1-3.
We offer achievement standard school-based subjects providing pathways for rangatahi to complete their secondary education through NCEA and then transition into a tertiary qualification when appropriate.
The Secondary Tertiary High School is quite different from a conventional mainstream school setting.
It has a small roll (200 rangatahi) and a low teacher-student ratio because its purpose is to manaaki our rangatahi for whom mainstream high schools are not meeting their needs.
We provide a high level of pastoral care and dedicated teaching time, and plenty of whanau involvement to support our rangatahi to be successful.
