English

Cambridge High School (CHS) is a co-educational school, established in 1883, with a roll of approximately 1,800 students. Cambridge High School serves the interests of the community incredibly well, meeting the varied academic, trades, cultural and sporting needs of our students. Places at CHS are highly sought after with families choosing to move into town to gain access to the school.
An opportunity exists to join CHS teaching in the English and social sciences faculties. The role is predominately as an English teacher with the ideal candidate also able to teach junior social studies.
Both faculties are very collegial, collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking in their approach. In English, many of the faculty co-teach classes and, while this is not a must for all classes, it does enhance the collaborative environment that is expected as a member of this team.
Staff wellbeing and a student-centred approach are fundamentally important, and the ideal candidate will place strong emphasis on this in their practice. Ideally, having current NCEA knowledge and experience is preferred. The successful applicant will enjoy having fun at work both in the classroom and in the faculty spaces.
We welcome applications from candidates who are open to learning and working within the kind of environment that we have described.
We would like to secure an appointment as soon as possible, so we will be interviewing selected applicants as we receive their applications. You are encouraged to submit your application at your earliest convenience.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $59,027 to $99,216, depending on the applicant's qualifications and experience. Individuals' actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
