Mo Tenei Turanga Mahi - About the Role
As an Engineering Trades Tutor, you will primarily be responsible for the delivery of New Zealand Certificate programmes at levels 2 - 4 within the Engineering Fabrication domain (including Heavy Engineering, Light Engineering, and Steel Construction strands) and/or the Mechanical Engineering domain (including Fitting and Machining, General Engineering, Machining, Maintenance, and Toolmaking strands).
The New Zealand Certificates cater for both full and part-time students. The role will include delivery to Ara Apprentices (evening classes and block courses), Pre-Trade students, Foundation students, and Dual Enrolment students who combine study at school with study at Ara. This role will cover practical hands-on project-based learning in addition to all theory aspects. Workplace visits and the provision of support for Ara Apprentices may also be a requirement. The key focus around this delivery will be specific to the Engineering Trades requirements of the student to meet industry needs, current trends, and technological developments at advanced levels.
Nga Pukenga Me Nga Wheako - Skills and Experience

A minimum of Trade Certificate, National Certificate, or New Zealand Certificate in an Engineering Trade, or equivalent (Fitter/Welder, Boilermaker, Fitter and Turner, General Engineer, etc)
Proven experience and high skill competency in Engineering Fabrication processes at an advanced level
Teaching or coaching experience
Capability to develop and write delivery resources and assessments.
Vision, innovation and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning.
Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
The ability to develop and implement flexible teaching and learning methods, including the use of learning technologies
Time management skills, including the ability to effectively and efficiently administer, organise, and coordinate activities, and to meet deadlines.
Engagement with assessment and feedback processes.
Digital literacy including competence using a computer (including Microsoft office products)
Effective communication with a diverse range of others, at all levels within and outside the organisation
Flexibility regarding hours of work including evening and occasional weekends
Recognises diversity positively (cultural, socioeconomic, age, ability)
Sound professional judgment and integrity
